FAQ

Q. CAN I JOIN BUBBLE LOUNGE?

A. Yes! BUT, we have limited spaces left. Our camp will be approximately 50 people this year. If you’ve looked us over you know we are an experienced group, but we are NOT a turn-key camp. That being said, we have a tiered structure for camp dues which makes the camp financially possible.

Q. WHY JOIN BUBBLE LOUNGE?

A. There are over 100 collective years of burning man experience in our lead team alone. Joining a theme camp also reserves your spot on the playa! You get there and have a place to pitch your tent! (Got an RV? Check with us!) You’ll also have certain comforts like a community kitchen and a shower structure, shade for your tent (If you are joining late, shade is not guaranteed), and some of the friendliest international burners on the playa. And this year, we have placement that checks a lot of good boxes at 8:00 and Delight!

Q. HOW MUCH ARE CAMP DUES?

A. Camp dues are an important part of making a theme camp a reality. It is a community effort where people pool their resources physically, artistically, and financially to bring the project to life. Considering what our camp offers, we have moderate camp dues compared to similar camps.

Camp dues are offered on a tiered system. Tier one is for the build team, returning (loyal) Bubble Loungers, contributing artists, and other core members who work months in advance to bring Bubble Lounge to BRC.

Tier 2 is for campers who can attend at least one pre-playa build day, help with loading and unloading the truck, help build the Lounge on the Playa during early access, and tear down at the end of our amazing week.

Tier 3 is primarily for campers who do not qualify for Tier 1 or 2. Tier 3 camp dues are extremely limited. This level is great for campers traveling abroad who can’t participate in pre-playa workdays but want to participate in an organized camp. You will be responsible for at least two on-playa camp shifts (don’t worry, nothing major) and help break down camp.

Shared Costs tiers are disclosed on our SLACK channel, but range from $350 to $475 p/person. Special rates for RV’s. There are special considerations and accommodations for people who may be financially challenged.

Q. WHAT DO CAMP DUES PAY FOR?

A. The biggest expense we have is the box truck (rental, fuel, insurance) we rent to bring Bubble Lounge to and from the playa. Other funds go toward the structural needs of the camp such as shade, kitchen, shower, decor, and tons of miscellaneous stuff to make all this craziness work. BubLo is not a for-profit camp.

Q. WHEN AND WHERE ARE PRE-PLAYA BUILD DAYS?

A. All build days take place in Culver City, California near Venice Beach. Dates are listed in our SLACK channel. Use the contact us page to request an invite to our SLACK channel.

Q. DOES BUBBLE LOUNGE ACCEPT FIRST-TIME BURNERS?

A. YES! ABSOLUTELY!!! (but no Sparkle Ponies) First-time burners (burgins) are welcome, but should fully research the official Burning Man Survival Guide and come to the playa prepared with everything you need to survive while there. You don’t necessarily have to get it all right, but make the effort. Staying with an established camp can make this much easier, but no one wants to be ”that guy” who shows up expecting everyone else to take care of his/her/other needs. Here is another great read for first-timers.

No drama policy

Snark is one thing, and that’s okay. But, we have a no drama policy. If you’re an emotional hurricane and plan to throw a tantrum or otherwise make life difficult for your campmates, somebody large will sit on you to calm you down and if that doesn't work we’ll blow bubbles in your face. If after intervention you’re still a storm we'll send you packing.
